As a little girl the Disney classics were my favorites. Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, and Belle were characters I could watch time and time again and never get bored. To this day I still cherish these movies and can easily sit down and sing the words, embarrassingly, to almost every song. These movies display beautiful girls whom handsome men, mostly princes, fall head over heels for almost immediately and then devote their lives to wining these women’s affections. As I grew older I came to realize that Disney had fed me a load of steaming hot bullshit. This is not the way things work in the real world these fairytale romances are a thing of fiction and to base any kind of value on them will only bring you more harm than good. Men aren’t dashing and charming running to open doors for you actually by the time you hit grade school you were taught that if a boy punched you he liked you of all things, a far cry from a glass slipper if I do say so myself. Chivalry is dead and more so for the most part so is monogamy. In today’s world Prince Charming would be cheating on Cinderella with Ariel and probably Jasmine to and all the countrymen would be cheering him on while doing the same. But if Cinderella got her cookies too those same countrymen would probably have her beheaded for treason. Funny? I think not.

Oh my gosh, you are so right! I really was disillusioned when it came time to start dating because I really thought that "One day my prince would come!" I think I had to finally realize that I really don't want to spend the rest of my life being a princess, so it is unfair for me to expect the same. Disney sure did make a lot of money off of us though, didn't they? I wonder why we were all so willing to buy into it as kids?
