Now that I have given you a lot of facts on the situation at hand I would like to give my own personal experience to prove that I practice what I preach. In reality Nati wouldn’t have been my first or second choice for a dog. She wasn’t the cutest puppy I had ever seen, in fact she was malnourished and covered in fleas. But she was a licking machine and a wiggle worm and condemned because of her breed. A boy had seen her around his neighborhood for about a week and eventually realizing she was a stray took her in for a day or two before taking her to the shelter. He found out there that once he dropped her off that she had a 48 hour window for someone to claim her or else she would be euthanized because she was a pitbull. I just so happened to be at the shelter at the time volunteering and he asked me if I would like a dog. I politely declined until I heard that she might die and, being a huge dog lover, decided I would take her and find another shelter that wouldn’t kill her. Well turns out she stole my heart and I have a dog I never thought I would. The vet and I have decided she isn’t complete pitbull, she has something else in her such as lab or retriever but because she has the face of a pit the shelter would have killed her and it amazes me that people can be scared of my dog. She wouldn’t hurt a fly unless she licked it to death. And people can say that she is a special case but I don’t believe it living in an urban area there are tons of pit bulls in my apartment complex and though we have met some that don’t like other dogs, for the most part all of them are friendly as can be.

This is an interesting story on how you ended up receiving a dog that you at one time declined.
