From the time I was a little girl my parents always taught me to “not judge a book by its cover;” they instilled in me the value that everyone is equal and that we shouldn’t judge others because there are always two sides to every story. These are morals that we have all more than likely heard a million times. But what if the offended party, the one having judgment passed on them, could not speak for themselves? One could never hear the other side of the argument if they were say a dog. Just the name of the breed, pitbull, automatically brings up images of the snarling dog broad headed dog with a huge mouth and big teeth; this is probably not how most pits greet their owners. We have all heard the widespread theory that these dogs are dangerous, aggressive, and up until rather recently it might have even proven true for my own beliefs on the subject. But I have come to see that these dogs are not vicious by nature. They need advocates, they need people to stand up and speak for them because they are being abused, neglected, and in most cases killed, they can’t speak for themselves so we need to do it for them. Having one myself has proven to me that we should truly not judge them for what they have been through we all make mistakes and in this case it was us as humans that made them this way

  1. I've never really thought about the issue but it was interesting to hear the other side of the story.
